European projects are a part of NOBATEK/INEF4’s R&D strategy. This is because of the power of collaborative work and European Union financing to develop solutions that must reach the market in short timeframes. Since 2014, NOBATEK/INEF4 has distinguished itself by becoming the leader in France for obtaining H2020 contracts in the construction sector.

Internationalise collaborative R&D
With more than 20 projects led as a partner or coordinator, NOBATEK/INEF4 has achieved esteem and recognition in European RD&I. The IET has built up a network of over 150 partners from 25 different countries in this fashion.
NOBATEK/INEF4 favours calls from the Public-Private Partnership for Energy Efficient Buildings (PPP E2B), supervised and financed by the EU research and innovation program HORIZON 2020.
Over the last few years, however, the IET has successfully applied in other project areas, such as Smart Cities, Water Management or Nature-Based Solutions.
NOBATEK/INEF4 is also involved in establishing the RD&I strategy for the construction sector in Europe. In 2015, Germain Adell, then director of Innovation & Valorisation of NOBATEK/INEF4 joined the Steering Committee of the ECTP among a college of research centres and universities.
Re-elected in 2017, he will notably pilot a study on the creation of a TRL scale specific to the field of construction. Along with this re-election, NOBATEK/INEF4 also joined the network for national construction platforms and became the media and information relay for the ECTP in France.
ECTP, the European platform for construction
The ECTP (European Construction Technology Platform)
was launched by the construction sector in October 2004 to develop new RD&I strategies to improve competitiveness, meet societal needs and take up environmental challenges.
ECTP assembles around 170 Member organisations from across the whole supply chain of the Built Environment. ECTP is today one of the 38 European Technology Platforms (ETPs) which are industry-led stakeholder fora recognised by the European Commission as key actors in driving innovation, knowledge transfer and European competitiveness. It is already mobilising to prolong the PPP E2B, set to end in 2020, with a wider scope and scale.
