Open innovation for sustainable buildings

NOBATEK/INEF4’s commitments

NOBATEK/INEF4's commitments

Our employees carry strong environmental values. Being committed, they are often at the initiative of eco-responsible actions within our company. Collectively, we are keen to reduce the carbon footprint and GHG emissions associated with our business.

NOBATEK/INEF4: a Cooperative Society of Collective Interest (SCIC)

Rooted in the social and solidarity economy (SSE), NOBATEK/INEF4 promotes a model of open innovation for a successful energy and environmental transition of the building industry.

By joining the cooperative NOBATEK/INEF4, our associates become a part of a network of public and private actors united around the same values and builders of the future. They benefit first and foremost from our skills and our networks to develop their innovations in buildings and neighborhoods. They build and experiment their solutions within their own or collaborative projects at regional, national or European scale. Our partners also benefit from the exclusive results of the applied research work generated by the cooperative. Finally, they decide on the strategic orientations and the major technological axes developed by the institute.

Public limited company with variable capital, non-profit (associates do not receive dividends), cooperative (1 associate = 1 vote and the assets remain non-divisible), of collective interest.

Our headquarters is a bioclimatic and sustainable building

Located in Anglet, in the heart of the Arkinova technopole site dedicated to sustainable construction, our head office was delivered in 2009. It is a bioclimatic building with BBC certification and HQE™ certification using a maximum of local materials (e.g.: façade cladding made of maritime pine from the Landes forest).

Within more than 10 years of exploitation, we observe that the energy consumptions measured daily are equivalent to those foreseen in design thanks, especially, to the involvement of our employees.

Our building also provides a showcase for our solutions and those of our partners (e.g., our wastewater is purified by earthworms thanks to a worm filter).

Did you know?

Our teams enjoy gardening our potager and try to produce honey with the beehives on our roof. To encourage pollinators, we practice differentiated mowing in our gardens and sow flowering fallows.

Sustainable use of our energy and materials

Selective sorting and recycling of waste

We also recycle our waste and promote selective sorting:

  • Communication materials: All printed on FSC recycled paper.
  • Consumables: Collection of used ink cartridges, B/W printing encouraged, reuse for draft purposes, paper recycling.
  • Computer equipment: Recovery and reconditioning of used computers for resale.
  • Food waste: Our vegetable food waste is composted on site.
  • Waste related to the experiments: When our experiments come to an end, materials and other systems that can be reused or reemployed are offered to our collaborators and partners in the ARKINOVA area such as the Compagnons.
  • Digital pollution: We favor dematerialization and have an electronic signature certificate.

Green Energy

Since January 1, 2020, our headquarters in Anglet (64) has been supplied with green energy by ENARGIA, a supplier of 100% locally produced renewable electricity.

NOBATEK/INEF4 was part of the call for tenders led by the Pays Basque Agglomeration Community in 2019 alongside 9 other members: the municipalities of Anglet, Bayonne, Biarritz, Bidart and Ostabat Asme, the Bil Ta Garbi syndicate, the Pays Basque tourist office (Ascain, Ciboure and Saint-Palais), the Bayonne tourist office and the CAPB for certain buildings located in different municipalities. ENARGIA won the “Renewable energy committed approach” lot.

Bonus: just like us, ENARGIA is also a Cooperative!

Professional equality

Each year, companies with more than 50 employees are required to publish an Index based on 4 to 5 indicators (depending on the size of the company) that measures the efforts of French companies in terms of equal pay between women and men.

This obligation falls within the framework of the Loi Avenir of September 05, 2018, which ultimately aims to eliminate pay gaps between women and men.

Publication of the results of the professional equality between Women and Men according to 4 criteria:

  • Criterion 1: Pay gap between the average salaries of women and men (score: 29/40)
  • Criterion 2: Comparison of the percentage of women and men who received an individual increase (score: 25/35)
  • Criterion 3: The number of female employees who received a raise after returning from maternity leave (score: 0/15)
  • Criterion 4: Number of women in the 10 highest paid positions (score: 5/10)

Index 2022 (for calendar year 2021): 59/100
